Non Surgical Facelift

WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE?

A non-surgical facelift is a knife-free alternative to a traditional face-lift. Essentially, it involves using a combination of simple and minimally-invasive procedures to restore form, function and symmetry in the upper and lower face – without having to undergo unnecessary surgery.

There’s no need for large incisions, general anaesthesia or overnight hospitalisation. Yet, the results can be very impressive. As a result, knife-free facelifts have become a popular choice for patients seeking reduced side effects, minimal downtime and a comfortable pace of treatment.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A non-surgical facelift will combine numerous treatments. Strategically-placed Dermal fillers are often used to restore natural facial volume – particularly along the cheeks, temples, lips and under the eyes – smoothing out wrinkles and creating enhanced definition. These fillers are then ‘underpinned’ with Botulinum Toxin A (Botox®) to sharpen the features and correct asymmetry.

As a final step, skin-tightening, collagen-inducing technologies – such as Ultherapy® and Exilis are commonly used to address the deepest, foundational layers of the skin and achieve long-term skin firming. As a final step, the skin can be ‘polished‘ with surfacing treatments like Hydrafacial®, or a further glow encouraged with intradermal hyaluronic acid like Profilo®.

These treatments constitute a typical knife-free facelift. However, every patient’s needs are unique and the exact treatment combination can be tailored –creating the best non-surgical facelift for you.

WHO IS IT FOR?

A non-surgical facelift can benefit patients who are starting to notice the effects of age and gravity in their face, but who do not want to commit to invasive, permanent surgery or a general anaesthetic. It is a popular option for localised facial concerns – such as wrinkles, loss of volume, skin laxity etc. – and most people are healthy enough to undergo the non-invasive treatments.

If you’re unsure whether a knife-free facelift is the best option for you, suitability can be discussed during your first consultation and we can help to devise the perfect treatment plan for your needs.

IS IT SAFE?

Yes, absolutely. A non-surgical facelift for the jowls and face can lead to dramatic improvements in appearance – with a fraction of the risks associated with a permanent, surgical procedure.

However, it’s important to bear in mind, a non-surgical facelift is never completely risk-free. For this reason, treatment must always be carried out by a UK medical professional, such as those at 23MD.

IS IT PAINFUL?

Everyone’s pain threshold is different and it is impossible to predict how you will find the experience of a non-surgical facelift – but, rest assured, most people agree that it isn’t painful.

There is a slight feeling of pressure as the Dermal filler is administered (a topical numbing cream can be used to help reduce this sensation). Botulinum Toxin A (Botox®) feels like a series of sharp pinpricks, while Ultherapy® can feel like a dull ache.

WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME?

Downtime is very minimal. This is one of the main advantages of a knife-free facelift.

A feeling of tenderness can linger, and swelling or bruising might occur – but you can typically resume your daily activities straight away. It’s a quick and highly convenient option. Some patients even receive treatment during their lunch break and return to work immediately afterwards.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

A non-surgical facelift does not take as long to perform as comparable surgical treatments. In fact, in most cases, the effects can be seen immediately. The contours of your face will be enhanced, facial folds will be softened, wrinkles will be reduced – all within the space of the treatment session.

The long-term results of a knife-free facelift can also last up to 2 years.
