IPL – Intense Pulse Light

WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE?

Intense Pulse Light (IPL) is an energy-based technology designed to rejuvenate and refresh the skin on the face and body.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The application of broad-spectrum light (rather than a single wavelength) enables the energy to reach multiple layers of the skin, enabling effective treatment of the surface epidermis and the tissues beneath. The device is positioned, and brief flashes of light are directed at the treatment area, 2-3 times per session. This encourages the body’s natural healing processes while stimulating collagen production.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is recommended for patients wanting to correct the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores and pigmentation.

IS IT SAFE?

Yes – the procedure is safe and non-erosive, improving damaged tissue and hyperpigmentation without harming healthy skin cells. Treatment, however, must be carried out by a medical professional.

IS IT PAINFUL?

The sensation of the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is warm yet tolerable and often compared to having an elastic band flicked against the skin.

WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME?

There is virtually no downtime and, following treatment, most people can resume their normal daily activities – however, you should avoid sun exposure for the next 48 hours.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

Skin appears instantly smoother, fresher, and younger-looking. However, for best results, a course of treatments is recommended.
