Dermal Fillers

WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE?

Dermal fillers are used to rejuvenate the skin, replace lost volume and refine the facial contours. Injected beneath the skin – as deep as the bone or in the collagen layer directly above – dermal fillers help to restore the natural facial structure. In mimicking the bone, tissues and fat that are lost with age, they impart a fresh and ‘lifted’ appearance to the face.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The composition of dermal fillers can vary; however, the most commonly-used are made from Hyaluronic Acid (HA) – a molecule which can carry up to 1,000 times its weight in water, and occurs naturally in the body. Dr Kersh uses dermal fillers that benefit from the innovative Vcross technology, which ‘cross-links’ the molecules, enabling the product to hold its shape and volumise where desired.

Areas most commonly treated are the temples, cheeks, lips, under-eye hollows, jawline and chin; while more advanced treatments, such as non-surgical rhinoplasties, can also be performed, enabling a holistic facial rejuvenation.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Dermal fillers are a popular option with patients looking to restore their natural facial shape and contours, as well as those seeking beautification. For this reason, Dr Kersh treats the face as a whole and not in isolated areas – a technique which enables her to restore balance and harmony.

IS IT SAFE?

Yes, however, treatment must be carried out by a medical professional.

IS IT PAINFUL?

The dermal filler can bring a feeling of ‘pressure’ when injected, though it is not uncomfortable.

WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME?

Downtime is minimal, though the area treated might feel tender for up to a week. Bruising and swelling might occur; however, this should disappear within the coming days.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

Dermal fillers have an instant effect, and the face looks immediately rejuvenated following treatment. Dr Kersh will discuss the best treatment plan for you at your consultation, and may choose to spread treatments out over a period of time. The effects will continue to improve with time; however, most dermal fillers last for approximately 18-24 months. The treatment may be combined with Mesotherapy, Botulinum Toxin A (Botox®) and energy-based treatments such as Ultherapy® or BTL Exilis® to achieve the best possible results.
