The effects of excess sweating, also known as Hyperhydrosis, can range from mild irritation to severe distress. Overactive sweat glands commonly occur in the underarms, palms of the hands and feet; and can be exacerbated by a number of physical and emotional factors.
At 23MD, Dr Kersh provides effective relief from Hyperhydrosis using injections of Medical Botulinum Toxin A (Botox®). Injected into the skin at the problem area, it starts to work in 1-2 weeks, with excessive sweating reduced for approximately 4-6 months.
If severe sweating is getting in the way of certain daily activities and antiperspirants are not working, you may be a suitable candidate for Hyperhydrosis treatment with Medical Botulinum Toxin A (Botox®). If you decide not to have further treatment, your sweating will gradually return to its pre-treated state.
