WHAT IS LASER RESURFACING?

Laser resurfacing is an advanced skin rejuvenation treatment that involves the application of controlled light energy to effectively refresh and rejuvenate the skin on the face and body. It can be used to target various aesthetic conditions, such as fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, skin tightening, enlarged pores and scar reduction.

This is an ideal anti-ageing treatment that can be tailored to each individual patient’s skin condition. We may recommend combining laser resurfacing with LED light therapy treatment to aid healing and reduce facial redness. Please note that a patch test is required prior to full treatment taking place.

HOW DOES LASER RESURFACING WORK?

There are two types of laser: ablative and non-ablative. Ablative lasers target and heat the top layer of skin, smoothing out lines and wrinkles, encouraging cell turnover and improving elasticity and overall tone and texture. Non-ablative lasers target and heat the collagen layer beneath the skin’s surface, stimulating fibroblasts and rebuilding collagen and elastin – the all-important building blocks that keep your skin smooth and elastic. Our expert practitioners will decide which treatment is right for you.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Laser resurfacing treatment is recommended for patients hoping to improve the appearance of the skin on the face and body. It’s an excellent option for anyone looking for a non-invasive treatment to effectively address lines, wrinkles, uneven skin texture, large pores, scarring and loose or sagging skin with minimal downtime. However, an initial consultation will enable us to determine your suitability for treatment.

IS IT SAFE?

Yes, however, treatment must be carried out by a medical professional.

IS IT PAINFUL?

You may feel a warm, yet tolerable sensation during treatment. Visible redness and a slight swelling on or around the treated area may be present for up to 24 hours after treatment. Your practitioner will apply numbing cream to the area prior to treatment to reduce any discomfort.

WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME?

Downtime is minimal and dependent upon the type of laser used. Most patients can resume their normal daily activities immediately afterwards; however, you should avoid sun exposure for the next 48 hours.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

An initial improvement is seen immediately; however, for long-term results, a course of treatments is usually recommended.
