Sporting a smooth, bright, and youthful-looking complexion is the skincare goal of many. But sometimes, we need to go a little further than simply applying creams and serums in a multi-step routine and also explore the benefits of advanced facial devices. One of them is the HydraFacial, a treatment that is becoming so increasingly popular that one treatment is performed every fifteen seconds worldwide.
How does the HydraFacial work?
The award-winning HydraFacial follows a six-step treatment process – detox, cleanse and exfoliation, brightening, extraction, hydration, and rejuvenation.
The process begins with a specialist lymphatic drainage technique to increase circulation and eliminate toxins from the skin. Using a handheld device with a whirring vortex of water at its tip, the skin is then deeply cleansed and exfoliated of dead skin cells. A glycolic peel is then added to soften gunk and blockages in the pores before this is vacuumed out, leaving behind a smooth, clean canvas ready for the hydrating blend of vitamins, peptides and hyaluronic acid that follows next.
The final step involves a few minutes of soothing red LED light that calms the skin and stimulates collagen production.
What skin conditions can it improve?
The most impressive thing about the HydraFacial is that it appears to all ages, complexions, and concerns. It’s suitable for teenagers and adults with acne and congested skin, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, enlarged pores, dehydrated or dry skin and skin lacking in clarity and luminosity.
The HydraFacial has a range of serums that are tailored to your individual concerns and skin health goals and can benefit a range of skin concerns and conditions as a result.
What should you expect in terms of results?
The HydraFacial is a goldmine of skin treatments – it’s more than a basic salon facial but less than an intense resurfacing treatment. It has no downtime, and the results are immediately apparent. We can quickly improve skin texture and tone and even improve conditions like acne and pigmentation without any irritation or peeling, leaving a beautiful, radiant glow for up to seven days or longer.
For these reasons, the HydraFacial is a highly requested treatment before red-carpet events and weddings.
For most skin concerns, we usually recommend a series of approximately six treatments. Following this, we recommend that most patients make HydraFacial’s a part of their routine skincare regime. The more regular treatments become, the better the results will be – and the longer they will last.
Combining with other procedures
The HydraFacial is gentle enough to be performed on the same day as injectable treatments such as anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers. It can also be nicely complemented by skin boosters such as Profhilo, which stimulate collagen to improve overall skin quality and condition, boost hydration and encourage a smoother, radiant and more youthful appearance.
Whilst the HydraFacial corrects irregularities on the surface and encourages a radiant complexion, Profhilo stimulates collagen and boosts hydration from within.
Going a step further – the Hydrafirm
If you’re seeking a treatment to address specific skin concerns such as acne or pigmentation whilst simultaneously tightening the skin and restoring radiance, look no further.
Dr Kersh developed the Hydrafirm exclusively for patients at 23MD. Combining three treatments – HydraFacial, Exilis Radiofrequency and Mesotherapy – the Hydrafirm provides a restorative deep cleanse and exfoliation for the skin before delivering a combination of ultrasound and radiofrequency energies to the deeper tissues, causing fat cells to shrink and stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.
Finally, using mesotherapy, we deliver a bespoke blend of ingredients directly to the skin through a medical mesotherapy device, to improve hydration, elasticity and skin texture, whilst softening fine lines and restoring radiance.
